These few days represent the zenith for automotive aficionados who are able to partake in all numbers of specialist events. From car shows, to track driving, to auctions, the crowning jewel of the week is the most prestigious car show in the World: The Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance. Winning ‘Best of Show’ at Pebble Beach is highly coveted and as such comes with enormous pressure and competition.
The Concours d’Lemons emerged from this serious endeavor as a satirical way for ‘Average Joe’s and Jane’s’ to partake in the thrills of Car Week without needing to own a rare multi-million dollar car. What is a LEMON?
In the World of automobiles the word ‘Lemon’ is used to describe a vehicle that has design or manufacturing issues which affect its safety, value, or utility. The Concours d’Lemons wholeheartedly embraces this in their words: "Celebrating the Oddball, Mundane & Truly Awful". It is a car show accessible to anyone and a unique opportunity to bring out the worst car you can find. Some may call it a ‘jalopy’ , ‘clunker’, or ‘s-box’ but they are all Lemons on the show field and Element will present one with a special distinction.
The ‘Combustion Crown’
For 2024 Element Fire Extinguishers want to offer the best automotive fire extinguishers to the worst the automotive world has to offer. Among the vehicles on display at the Concours d’Lemons the esteemed judges will select one that is at the greatest risk of catching fire. It is this special machine that will be awarded the ‘Combustion Crown’.
Regardless of what anyone else thinks of these cars, their owners put a lot of thought and preparation into attending this show… or at the very least they bought some gas and made the drive. That's good enough for us! Every car deserves the best vehicle fire extinguisher that will not cause additional damage or leave a mess. Lemons are no exception!
